This blog is a community place for sharing between myself and my students. If you're a student coming here, sometimes information here will be for your class, sometimes for another. I will tag anything that is for a specific course with the designator INFS or LIBT and the course number (INFS1000, LIBT2200, etc.), so if you want to find posts that are only for your course, then you can use the labels/tags to limit to your course number. Please add your thoughts to the banter.
That is funny! My friend who doesn't have any kids yet told me about this clip when we were talking about how different things will be for my boys (re: internet and stuff) than it was for us. I like that they blow it way over the line but wonder if there aren't moms out there who are really like that...
ReplyDeleteThere's the whole phenomenon of "helicopter parents," who hover over their children well into the college years and sometimes beyond. Because new college students are keeping in touch with high school friends more and more through social networks and cell phones/texting, it has changed the first year experience and there is actually quite a bit of literature being written looking at the impact these changes have on how young people develop independence.
ReplyDeleteHmmm... I have to say I personally don't like the sound of "helicopter moms"... The independence issue makes me think of something I read a while back about how more and more kids, especially boys, are living with their parents well into their 20s and sometimes 30s. I LOVE my boys, but I'll tell you right now, I do NOT want them living with me that long!
